GROSS

I'm a pug. And as a pug, I shed. Surely you know this. I shed like CRAZY! I think it's part of my charm but you may disagree. My Mom disagrees. Often. She's gotten better about it though, especially since the Great Shed Fest of April-May 2010. But now that it's cooler and I'm building up my winter coat, I shed a lot less.

Mom just ordered this new contraption to combat my unfortunate hair loss. It's called the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser (the hand-held variety). She tried it out tonight. And the title of this blog is GROSS for a reason. Behold:

After that one container-full from the living room rug, Mom emptied it. She said she could have filled that container at least 4 more times, but after she emptied it, the filter fell out and Mom might have cussed a little bit as she wrestled to get it put back together for at least 15 minutes. See, my Mom hates appliances and especially vacuums. She refuses to read the little book that comes with them or even look at the pictures. So she threw it in a bag and put a note in there for Uncle Michael to fix it when he comes over to pick me up after work tomorrow.

The good news is that the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser really works! She even wants to get the full stand up version. It works way better than the stupid Dust Buster she bought which picks up nothing at all!

The bad news is that Uncle Michael is coming to pick me up after work tomorrow. All the way until Saturday night because my poor sad Mom has to work a two-day event at that place she goes every day called HER JOB! I don't get it but whatever. I'm not sure I'm ready to see my stupid cousin Jack. He better be nice.

So as a treat for inflicting that gross hair picture on you, here are some pictures of me looking like my adorable self.

This is the look I'm going to give my cousin Jack when he thinks he can push me around.

This is the look I'll give Uncle Michael when my cousin Jack doesn't heed my previous warning look above.

And this is the look I'll give my Mom when she finally picks me up on Saturday. I'm always worn out after a stay at Uncle Michael's.

PS Mom told me today that I won a special donut from Melissa and Emmitt!! I'm so excited! I can't wait for it to get here. I'll post lots of pictures when it does! I just hope it can withstand my energetic chewing. At least long enough for the pictures.

Pumpkin Season!

Mom went over to her friend's house where they decorated pumpkins. I guess carving pumpkins was too boring for them. I didn't get to go with her but she brought the freakin' thing back with her.

And I was NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT.

Hello?
I gave it a chance. I gave it a few sniffs.

Then I wanted it GONE. It was scary! I mean look at it! What is growing on it?

I wouldn't go near it at all. Mom called me a scaredy dog. I didn't speak to her for awhile for that.

On another unrelated-to-puggies note, my Mom wrote something for her friend's blog about how they grew up in a small town in the Ozarks. If you want to check it out, you can go to her blog here! Living Single in Small Town America

Dog Wash!

Today Mom volunteered for the Missouri chapter of SEPRA (SouthEast Pug Rescue and Adoption) at a dog wash! She had a great time (and don't worry, I got to come and join in the fun a little later)!

This was at the beginning of the day, these are some of the volunteers' pugs:

Hello, Duke!

Mom told me that one of the coolest things was that the English Bulldog meetup group came out to support the puggies!

The Bulldogs have arrived!

I don't know how I should feel about this but that guy on the left was apparently named Vito too!!!

Five month old Bowzer!

The pugs have multiplied!

Mr. Papee on the left is available for adoption! He is 7 years old and SOOO sweet.
(That was my Mom writing if you couldn't tell)

This is Frito, aka Frank. He's 10 years old and also available for adoption! His foster mom says don't let his age fool you, he acts like he is five!

FINALLY! My Mom's dog-washing shift ended and she came home to get me and bring me back for my own bath!

Hello Papee. Nice to meet you.

Everyone couldn't believe how well behaved I was!

I even got a massage.

Ahhh, it felt GOOD. I rested my head on this guy's arm for most of the dry. He was comfortable.

SEPRA raised $571 today to help my fellow pug brothers and sisters find their new forever homes and to get them all as healthy and happy as I am! Don't worry, we will return to our regularly scheduled programming of me being spoiled and bossy next time.

Packing is Fun!

I don't know why Mom is complaining so much about packing! Look what happens when she digs in to the closet and finds stuff she hasn't seen since she moved in!

Score!!! This almost makes up for that stupid bone yesterday. Later!

Shopping! Oh yay.

Mom and I went shopping at the Canine Center today. As you can tell she's still putting off this "packing" thing. She forgot to bring her camera to the store though so she tortured me with it when we got home.

I kind of hate shopping. I want to pee on everything in the store and Mom never lets me. (Secret: sometimes when she's really concentrating on something, like today when she was choosing my new collar and lead, I sneak one in!) So I got her back today! While she was busy paying for the goods, I pooped right on the floor! HA! It was a riot! Mom didn't think so but I did! I gave her a big smile as she was saying "Vito! Why did you do that?" Oh it was hilarious!

She bought me two new collars because sadly my Bama collar "sucks" as Mom says every single night when she has to tighten it. And I HATE having my collar taken off! I get all wiggly and mouthy and then I try to chew on it. So we got two new collars today because Mom couldn't decide between the nice argyle and the wine theme. (Hank, please note that I did not pick the wine theme, MY MOM DID! She's kind of a wino. I would prefer a nice Natty Light theme but the Canine Center didn't carry those for some reason.)

I prefer reds myself but she didn't ask my opinion.

The polka dot one is the leash.

Mom made me put on my harness to show her skills at color-coordinating.

I AM SO BORED.

Are we really still taking pictures??

Seriously Mom! I'm not looking at you now.

She got me the new non-retractable leash because she is obsessed with Cesar Millan and he doesn't like retractable leashes. I'd like to find this Cesar guy and give him a piece of my mind because the retractable leash lets me get further away from Mom in the yard to do my business in private!

She also got me a new bone but as usual, I haven't played with it. I love messing with her - tricking her in to spending her hard earned money and then not playing with the toys she buys me. It's the best game!

What do you expect me to do with that?

I don't smell any stuffing in here!!

If I don't look at it maybe it will go away.

You'd think she would learn by now that I only want stuffed toys that I can destroy and then eat their innards!

Like this owl that Mom brought home from a baby shower!

Minute two...

Minute three! Mission accomplished!

Later friends! I'm going to make my Mom get busy on the packing tomorrow!

Sweet Baby Bear

Mom just had to post this picture of me looking sweet. I won't disagree with her on that, although I prefer "distinguished."

And she forgot to post this picture of my Alabama jersey in her last post. She ordered this for me right after I came to live with her and she didn't know anything about puggie sizes. This is a Medium! HA! What was she thinking?? So this is going in a frame in our new house.

Speaking of our new house, Mom is kind of a real estate moron and we just found out our closing isn't until the middle of October, so we have a whole month to trip over boxes and for me to not have my VERY OWN YARD. Sigh.

OK, on that note, one more distinguished shot:

Hooray for College Football!

Well since the Cardinals are really sucking it up now, Mom says it's okay that we officially move on to college football! The most wonderful time of the year! (Mom also says it's wonderful because it's the best time of the year at the wineries, where she & her friends go once a month 6 months out of the year, but of course I don't get to go there either, so I don't care Mom!!!)

We are big Alabama fans. Mom was supposed to go to college there but it's a long and messy story and she ended up in Kansas instead. But she's still a Bama fan and of course so am I! So it was time for a collar change! I change my collar depending on if it's baseball or football season. Now I just need a Dolphins collar for Sundays (my middle name isn't Marino for nothin' you know!) and I will be all set.

Roll Tide Roll!

My best angle - where my face looks teeny and (even more) adorable.

Don't hate me because I'm so good looking.

That's all for now! Mom will be at the wineries on Saturday instead of at home with me packing where she belongs. She says I should pack some things for her while she's away - fat chance, lady!

Happy Labor Day!

Hi everyone! It's Labor Day, and Mom & I had a fun weekend! Some of her friends came up from Springfield, MO and they went to the Cardinals game on Saturday. (Guess who wasn't invited once again??) I was nice enough to put on my jersey for my out-of-town guests' viewing pleasure anyway.

This is me protesting that I am not allowed at the game.

Here are some pictures of them at a bar post-game.

The girls (Mom is second from the left)

And the boys who are too immature to take a proper picture. (That is my Mom talking, not me.)

After the game (and the bar) Uncle Michael tortured Jack and I for a little while.

Today Mom had big plans for packing, but we did a lot of napping instead.

This is my new favorite position.

Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend too!!
